Over the past week, I’ve made one small change to my morning routine that’s had a surprisingly big impact: chia seed water. It started as an experiment—something I’d seen floating around the wellness world for a while—but after just seven days, I’m already noticing real benefits, especially when it comes to my digestion.

My Morning Routine with Chia Water
Every morning, before I head out to walk the dog, I drop about a tablespoon of chia seeds into a glass of water and let them soak while I’m out. By the time I’m back, they’ve expanded into that signature gel-like texture, and I drink the whole glass before having my coffee and starting my day.
It’s simple, it’s hydrating, and—turns out—it’s pretty transformative.
The Biggest Change: A Calmer, Less Bloated Gut
I’ve dealt with a sensitive stomach for as long as I can remember—easily bloated, irritable, and unpredictable. But this past week? My digestion has noticeably calmed. I haven’t felt nearly as puffy or uncomfortable after meals, and my usual morning bloat has basically vanished.
Chia seeds are rich in soluble fiber, which helps support digestion by promoting regular bowel movements and feeding good gut bacteria. That fiber also helps absorb excess stomach acid and keep things feeling balanced.
Other Benefits I’ve Started Noticing
Beyond my gut, there are a few extra perks I didn’t expect but am definitely not mad about:
1. Hunger? Way More Manageable
Chia seeds expand in water and form a gel that keeps you feeling full for longer. Drinking chia water first thing in the morning gives my body something to work with—and I’ve found I’m not immediately ravenous or craving snacks as soon as I sit down with my coffee.

2. Mental Clarity & Energy
Chia seeds are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, which are known to support brain health. While I’m not claiming it’s magic, I have noticed that I’m feeling a bit sharper and more grounded during my morning routine—like my brain fog lifts a little faster than it used to.
3. Hydration Boost
Starting the day with a tall glass of water (with chia or not) is great for hydration, but chia seeds take it a step further. They retain water and help hydrate the body more efficiently over time. I feel more refreshed, especially after my morning walk.
4. Gentle Detox Support
Chia seeds have natural cleansing properties. That fiber not only supports digestion but helps your body move waste more effectively. It’s not a harsh detox—just a gentle assist that makes you feel cleaner from the inside out.

How to Make Chia Seed Water
If you want to try it for yourself, it’s super easy:
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 1 cup (8–10 oz) water
- Optional: squeeze of lemon or splash of coconut water for flavor
Instructions:
- Add the chia seeds to your water.
- Let them soak for 15–30 minutes until they form a gel-like texture.
- Stir well before drinking.
- Drink it before your coffee or breakfast for the best effect.
Will I Keep Going?
Absolutely. It’s such a simple shift with clear benefits. My stomach feels better, I’m more energized, and my mornings just flow a little smoother now.
If you’ve got a sensitive gut, need help staying full longer, or want to gently level-up your hydration and clarity—chia water might be your new best friend.
Let me know if you’ve tried it! I’d love to hear if it’s helping you as much as it’s helped me.
