If you are in the mood for a true Italian experience in the Jacksonville Beaches, you should check out Salumeria 104. As soon as you enter, you will feel yourself transported to the quaint streets of Italy, where the flavors mingle and the ingredients caper. As a South Floridian, I am thankful that I am not so far away from the delicious Italian meals.
I was invited to the grand opening of this North Florida location, and I am so thankful that I was able to spend my evening with some delicious eats and one fantastic individual.
The Culinary Journey:
My meal began with the Classic Caesar Salad. Made of sliced hearts of Romaine tossed with garlic croutons and a liberal sprinkling of Parmigiano Reggiano, it primed the palate for what’s to come. It’s a must-have salad, so bright and crisp and so satisfying.
For dinner, I had Lasagna del Salumiere. If you choose to continue reading my culinary expedition, get set for a symphony of taste. Alternating layers of pasta, lovingly baked with Bolognese sauce and rich Béchamel, make a lasagna that is nothing less than divine. Each piece is like a warm hug from your Nonna (Grandma to the southern gentleman and lady).
Drinks to Try:
I don’t drink, by my friend insisted on the following as the must-try-beverages on the menu.
Atlantic Spritz: A refreshing mix of Select Aperitivo, prosecco, tangy grapefruit juice, and a splash of ginger beer. It’s sunshine in a glass.
Classic Aperol Spritz: Aperol and prosecco, served with a splash of carbonated water and a slice of orange. Bubbly and completely revitalizing.
Blood Orange Mule: My personal favorite! Stoli orange, Solerno liqueur, and a luscious blood orange puree dance together, harmonized by a squeeze of lime and the effervescence of ginger beer. It’s a flavor explosion that leaves you craving more.
